Swedish telecom giant Ericsson has finalized the sale of its U.S.-based subsidiary, Iconectiv, a company it originally acquired in 2012. The divestment marks a significant financial move for Ericsson as it continues to streamline its portfolio and focus on its core business areas.
According to a press release, the total value of the transaction—after deduction of expected taxes, transaction costs, and other outstanding debts—is projected to reach approximately 9.9 billion kronor.

Iconectiv, which specializes in information services related to telecommunications, has played an important role in managing network data and ensuring seamless communication across service providers. However, Ericsson’s decision to sell the subsidiary aligns with a broader corporate strategy of prioritizing areas that strengthen its leadership in mobile networks and 5G technologies.
The sale provides Ericsson with fresh capital, which can be reinvested in innovation, research, or debt reduction, strengthening its long-term competitiveness in an increasingly challenging global telecom landscape.
Though the buyer has not been publicly disclosed in Ericsson’s statement, the completed transaction represents a notable reshaping of the company’s U.S. presence more than a decade after the acquisition.
